Brenna White Named to ECC Honor Roll
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Sept. 26, 2011) – On Monday evening, the East Coast Conference office released its Player of the Week awards, in which Mercy College's freshman outside hitter Brenna White (Gardnerville, Nev.) of the volleyball squad was recognized in the Honor Roll for Week Four.
White posted an impressive 53 kills in three matches this week, including a 22-kill performance in the 3-2 win over host Nyack last Saturday. She added 31 digs and several assists and aces with her all-around game. She is currently ranked 13th overall and third among freshmen in all of Division II with 4.34 kills per set. She has played in every set and leads the Mavericks in both kills and digs.
The honor is the second for a Maverick student-athlete in as many weeks, as junior goalkeeper Nick Papas (Castleton, N.Y.) of the men's soccer team was named to the Honor Roll as well.
Head Coach Alan Clements will look to lead White and her fellow Mavericks back to a .500 record tomorrow night against NYIT in the Mercy Gymnasium. Start time is set for 7:00 p.m.
