Brenna White Named First Team All-ECC
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Nov. 8, 2011) – Mercy College freshman Brenna White (Gardnerville, Nev.) was named First Team All-ECC in the East Coast Conference’s 2011 All-Conference release on Friday morning. She is the first Maverick to be named All-Conference since Mariola St. Fleur was named Third Team in 2007.

Volleyball Drops Season Finale to Dowling
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Nov. 8, 2011) – On Tuesday night the Mercy College volleyball team took the court for the final match of the 2011 season, hosting conference-leading Dowling College and honoring senior Crasheena Ward (Danbury, Conn.) for her four years with the Mavericks. Mercy held its own early on but eventually succumbed to Dowling’s superior play, falling in three sets.

Volleyball Wins Second Straight ECC Match, 3-1 Over UDC
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Nov. 5, 2011) – On Saturday afternoon the Mercy College volleyball team took to the court at the University of the District of Columbia looking to build on Thursday’s East Coast Conference win over Molloy College. The Mavericks managed just that in ending the Firebirds’ season with a four-set victory, improving their record to 10-24 overall (4-9 in the ECC) and dropping UDC to 11-22 (2-12).

Volleyball Tops Molloy, 3-1; Brenna White Earns 600th Kill
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Nov. 3, 2011) – On Thursday night the Mercy College volleyball team avenged a loss earlier in the season to Molloy College by beating the Lions in a thrilling four-set match for the Mavericks’ third East Coast Conference win of the year. Tonight was special not just for the win, however, as freshman outside hitter Brenna White (Gardnerville, Nev.) hit her NCAA-leading 600th kill in the third set to become just the third Maverick ever to reach the milestone.

Brenna White No. 1 Across All NCAA Divisions
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Nov. 1, 2011) – Freshman outside hitter Brenna White (Gardnerville, Nev.) of the Mercy College volleyball team leads all NCAA divisions in kills this season, with 562. The NCAA released its weekly statistical rankings late Monday night, in which White ranked No. 1 in the entire nation in total kills, No. 3 in Division II in kills-per-set. Her 4.76 average leads the East Coast Conference and ranks first among all freshmen in the nation as well.

Volleyball Falls to Queens in Three Sets
QUEENS, N.Y. (Nov. 1, 2011) – On Tuesday night the Mercy College volleyball team took the court in Queens, N.Y. against the Queens College Knights, whom the Mavericks had beaten earlier in the season for their second East Coast Conference win. Unfortunately for Mercy, another slow start and poor chemistry resulted in a three-set loss, eliminating the Mavericks from the ECC Championship race.

WILMINGTON, DEL. (Oct. 29, 2011) – On Saturday afternoon the Mercy College volleyball team played its final tri-match of the year in Wilmington, Del., where the Mavericks faced Dominican College and Goldey-Beacom College. Mercy was once again the victim of some bad luck, playing impressively in each match but leaving with two losses to drop to 8-23 on the season.

Volleyball Falls to C.W. Post in Three Sets
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Oct. 27, 2011) – On Thursday night the Mercy College volleyball team hosted C.W. Post looking to pick up another conference win over the Pioneers, whom they had beaten earlier in the season, 3-2 on Long Island. Nine service and 24 attack errors doomed the Mavericks, however, as they fell in three sets to the Pioneers, dropping their record to 8-21 overall (2-8 in the ECC) while C.W. Post improved to 12-14 (5-6).

Volleyball Takes a Set but Loses Match to Bridgeport, 3-1
BRIDGEPORT, CONN. (Oct. 25, 2011) – On Tuesday night the Mercy College volleyball team stepped onto the University of Bridgeport campus in Connecticut looking to pick up their third conference win of the year on the night of senior right side hitter Crasheena Ward (Danbury, Conn.)’s 100th match. Unfortunately for the Mavericks, a slow start put them down early in an otherwise very competitive match and they were sent home with a four-set loss.

Brenna White Ranked Fourth in Division II, Top Freshman
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Oct. 24, 2011) – Freshman outside hitter Brenna White (Gardnerville, Nev.) of the Mercy College volleyball team moved up to No. 4 in the nation in kills-per-set and is the top-ranked freshman in this week’s NCAA Division II rankings. Already the East Coast Conference leader in total kills with 476, she now tops the conference in kills-per-set as well as pacing the Mavericks in digs with 252.

Volleyball Splits Tri-Match With District of Columbia and Assumption
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Oct. 22, 2011) – On Saturday afternoon the Mercy College volleyball team hosted a tri-match with conference foe the University of the District of Columbia and Assumption College. Although the Mavericks suffered a disappointing loss to the Firebirds early in the day, they came back out two hours later to take a thrilling four-set match against the Greyhounds, by whom they had been swept just last week.

Volleyball Suffers Three-Set ECC Loss to NYIT
OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (Oct. 20, 2011) – On Thursday night the Mercy College volleyball team headed out to Long Island for a rematch with NYIT, which had been victorious in three sets in the Mavericks’ first East Coast Conference match of the season back in September. The match ended with the same result as the Bears swept the Mavericks for their eighth ECC victory and the Mavericks’ seventh straight loss.

Volleyball Suffers ECC Loss to Powerhouse Dowling
OAKDALE, N.Y. (Oct. 13, 2011) – On Thursday night the Mercy College volleyball team traveled to Dowling College looking to knock off the East Coast Conference leader for a third straight ECC victory. It was not meant to be, however, as the Golden Lions swept the Mavericks in three sets, 25-15, 25-11 and 25-14,to remain unbeaten in conference play this season.

Volleyball Drops Matches to Southern Connecticut State and American International
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Oct. 8, 2011) – On Saturday afternoon the Mercy College volleyball team took a break from its two-match East Coast Conference winning streak to host a tri-match featuring Southern Connecticut State University and American international College. Despite competing evenly in each match, attack errors doomed the Mavericks (they broke 40 kills in each but posted hitting percentages of .086 and .066) as they fell to both opponents in four sets.

Volleyball Holds On to Top Queens in Five Sets for Second Straight Conference Win
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Oct. 6, 2011) – On Thursday night, the Mercy College volleyball team hosted Queens College (2-8 overall, 0-4 in the ECC) hoping to build on their big win over C.W. Post earlier in the week. After a close first set the Mavericks dominated the second and looked on their way to an easy win until Queens fought back to force a fifth set, but Mercy jumped out early and held on for the victory, their second straight in the East Coast Conference.

Volleyball Tops ECC-Nemesis C.W. Post in Epic Five-Set Match
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 4, 2011) – On Tuesday night the Mercy College volleyball team traveled out to Long Island to take on C.W. Post (7-9 overall, 1-2 in the ECC), a No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament last season. Hoping to break their five-game losing streak over the past two weeks and still looking for their first conference win, the Mavericks found it in an epic five-set match that lasted over two hours.

Brenna White Ranked No. 7 in Division II in Kills Per Set
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y (Oct. 4, 2011) – On Tuesday morning the NCAA released its individual statistics rankings for volleyball, in which Mercy College freshman outside hitter Brenna White (Gardnerville, Nev.) was ranked seventh in all of Division II, moving up six spots from 13th last week, with 4.52 kills-per-set. She also moved up one spot to second in the nation among freshmen.

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Oct. 2, 2011) – On Sunday afternoon, the Mercy College volleyball team faced off against Le Moyne College in its third match in two days looking to break a four-game losing streak full of bad luck. After falling in the first two sets, the Mavericks pulled one back and looked to have momentum on their side but allowed a Dolphins rally that proved just enough for Le Moyne to take the victory and improve its record to 10-5, while the Mavericks fell to 5-11.

Volleyball Sets Career Highs in Massachusetts but Falls to Franklin Pierce and Stonehill
EASTON, MASS. (Oct. 1, 2011) – On Saturday afternoon, the Mercy College volleyball team took the court against Franklin Pierce University (6-7) and Stonehill College (13-2) in Easton, Mass. in a tri-match. After taking a set and competing well against Bridgeport on Thursday to show that no opponent is out of their league this season, the Mavericks nearly pulled out the victory against the Ravens but succumbed to bad luck and fatigue and could not get going against the Skyhawks, dropping both matches and falling to 5-10 overall, 0-2 in the ECC. Franklin Pierce split its matches to leave with a 7-8 record while Stonehill topped both opponents in three sets, improving to 15-2.

Volleyball Battles ECC-Powerhouse Bridgeport Valiantly; Topped 3-1
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Sept. 29, 2011) – East Coast Conference-titan the University of Bridgeport entered Mercy Gymnasium harboring a 7-1 overall record and an unblemished league ledger of 2-0. The Mercy College volleyball team battled the Purple Knights strongly in all four sets, evening up the score after an epic second game. Mercy fell 3-1, with set scores of 21-25, 27-25, 23-25 and 14-25, but the Mavericks showed great character, determination and a gave off an aura that they will be in the ECC playoff hunt until the very end.

Mercy Drops First Conference Matchup Against NYIT
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Sept. 27, 2011) – On Tuesday night, the Mercy College volleyball team hosted its first conference game of the season, against NYIT (4-5 overall, 1-1 in conference). The Bears jumped out to early leads before having to withstand rallies from the Mavericks in each set, but pulled away by scores of 25-20, 25-17, 25-17 in the three-set victory.

Volleyball Splits Pair Against Holy Family and Nyack
NYACK, N.Y. (Sept. 24, 2011) – On Saturday evening, the Mercy College volleyball team crossed the Tappan Zee Bridge for a tri-match featuring Holy Family University and host Nyack College. Facing Holy Family, winners of five of their last six contests, in their first match of the day, the Mavericks took a while to get going and could not recover in time, falling in three sets. In the next and final match of the day, Mercy took the court against Nyack and pulled out a thrilling five-set victory to stay one game below .500 at 5-6. Holy Family won both matches to improve to 8-9 while Nyack ended the evening with two losses and a 3-8 record.

Volleyball Falls to Post in Four Sets
WATERBURY, CONN. (Sept. 22, 2011) – On Thursday night the Mercy College volleyball team took on Post University in Waterbury, Conn. looking to get back over .500 on the season. After dropping the first set, the Mavericks prevailed in an epic 62-point second set before falling in four and dropping to 4-5, while Post improved to 2-11.

Volleyball Sweeps Felician, Drops Heartbreaker to Saint Anselm
DOBBS FERRY (Sept. 17, 2011) – On Saturday afternoon, the Mercy College volleyball team hosted a tri-match with Felician College and Saint Anselm College coming into the Mercy Gymnasium. The Mavericks took the first match against Felician in three close sets but fell in the second match to Saint Anselm in five, bringing their record to 4-4. Felician leaves still winless with a 0-10 record after falling in the second match to Saint Anselm, which improves to 4-6 with the two-match sweep.

Volleyball Drops Match in Three Sets to Saint Rose
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Sept. 16, 2011) – On Friday night, the Mercy College volleyball team welcomed the College of Saint Rose into the Mercy Gymnasium for the first of three matches this weekend. At a severe height disadvantage (the Golden Knights boasted six players at least 6’0” to the Mavericks’ none), Mercy put up a fight early in each set but Saint Rose eventually pulled away for the three-set victory.

CHEYNEY, PA. (Sept. 10, 2011) – On Saturday afternoon, the Mercy College volleyball team traveled out to Cheyney, Pa. for two matches and came away with 3-0 sweeps in both. Mercy’s record is now 3-2.

Volleyball Drops Three Close Sets in Loss to Bloomfield
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Sept. 7, 2011) – On Wednesday night, the Mercy College volleyball team played host to Bloomfield College in the Mercy Gymnasium. Although the entire match was played incredibly close, key errors killed the Mavericks’ hopes and they dropped the match in three sets, 28-26, 26-24 and 25-23.
