Mercy Volleyball Concludes 2-0 Day with 3-1 Win Over St. Anselm

The Mercy College volleyball team defeated St. Anselm College 3-1 this afternoon in non-conference action. The scores of the match were 26-24, 25-20, 17-25, 25-23. With the victory, Mercy improves to 2-0 overall, while St. Anselm falls to 0-2.

Freshman Nicolette Gebhardt (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) and Bridgette Pennelle (Hawthorne, N.Y./Westlake) each produced double-doubles in the match.  Gebhardt led the team with 14 kills and 11 digs, while Pennelle had a 13 kills and as many digs. 

All four sets were competitive, with the Mavericks prevailing. Becca Lynch (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) had 32 assists and 12 digs, while Mirlusca Montes (Lima, Peru/ Senior de la Misericordia) added nine digs.

The Mavericks return to action on Wednesday, September 8, hosting local rival Pace University at 7:00 p.m.
