Mercy Volleyball loses ECC match in three close sets.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Senior Diana Bruzzone (Guayaquil, Ecuador) led the Mercy College volleyball team with 11 kills in the Mavericks 3-0 (17-25, 20-25, 22-25) loss at undefeated Bridgeport on Thursday night in Hubbell Gym.
With the loss, the Mavericks are 4-22 on the season and 0-10 in the conference. The Purple Knights are 29-4 overall and are 10-0 in the East Coast Conference.
Bruzzone 14 digs to go along with her 11 kills for a double-double.
Junior Shedeiky Hamilton (Yallahs, Jamaica) had a second best team high of nine kills with seven digs. Sophomore Bridgette Pennelle (Hawthorne, N.Y.) assisted 19 points with two service aces. Senior Ashley Zufelt (Farmington, N.M.) had four service aces to go along with two kills.
The Mavericks will finish up their home season with a match against C.W. Post on Tuesday, Nov. 3 in Mercy College Gymnasium. The Pioneers are 12-11 overall and 6-3 in the E.C.C.
