Mercy College Volleyball to Face Top-seeded Dowling in ECC Tourney Quarterfinals

DOBBS FERRY, NY - The
Mercy College women's volleyball team will take on top-seeded
Dowling College in the East Coast Conference (ECC) Tournament
Quarterfinals on Wednesday, November 12, at 7:00 p.m.
The Mavericks (7-22, 2-14 ECC) enter the quarterfinals as the
eighth seed. They are led by sophomore middle hitter
Shedeiky Hamilton
(Yallahs,
Jamaica) and junior outside
hitter Diana Bruzzone
(Guayaquil,
Ecuador). Hamilton is sixth in
the ECC in kills per set with 2.83 while Bruzzone is second with
4.57 digs per set. Senior setter Trevene Smith
(Montego Bay,
Jamaica) is fifth in the
conference in assists per set with 6.29.
Dowling (29-6, 16-0 ECC) went undefeated in the conference. In
their two regular season matches the Golden Lions won in straight
sets, but the second meeting was played much more closely (25-18,
25-18, 25-23). The Golden Lions lead the conference in kills per
set, hitting percentage, and assists per set.
The winner will move on to the semifinals which will be played on
November 14.
