Dowling Defeats Mercy Volleyball 3-0

OAKDALE, NY - The Mercy
College women's volleyball team dropped its opening East Coast
Conference (ECC) match to Dowling by a score of 3-0 on Tuesday.
Senior setter Trevene Smith (Montego Bay, Jamaica)
had 10 assists and four digs. Freshman outside hitter
Bridgette Pennelle (Hawthorne, NY) notched four
kills and four digs. Junior outside hitter Diana Bruzzone
(Guayaquil, Ecuador) added seven digs and three kills.
The Golden Lions took the first two sets 25-13 and 25-6,
respectively. Dowling had a combined 20 kills. Mercy played its
strongest set in the third by compiling a .353 attack percentage,
but came up short 25-16.
Erin Przybylowicz had 15 assists for the Golden Lions.
The Mavericks will be back in action on Thursday for an ECC tilt
when they take on C.W. Post at 7:00 p.m. in the Dobbs Ferry
Gymnasium.
