Mercy Volleyball Drops Opener to Kutztown

KUTZTOWN, PA
- The Mercy College volleyball team dropped its
first match of the season to Kutztown University on Friday by a
score of 3-0.
The Mavericks played their first match of three in the Kutztown
tournament. The host, the Golden Bears, took all three games in
succession, but was tested throughout.
Kutztown took the first two games 25-11 and 25-10, respectively.
The Golden Bears and Mavericks played a tough third game, but
Kutztown ultimately came out on top, 25-14.
Sophomore middle hitter Shedeiky Hamilton
(Yallahs,
Jamaica) had six kills. Freshman
outside hitter Bridgette Pennelle (Hawthorne, NY)
notched seven assists and six digs.
Junior outside hitter Diana Bruzzone
(Guayaquil,
Ecuador) and freshman middle
hitter Crasheena Ward
(Danbury,
CT) each had nine digs.
The Mavericks will continue in the Kutztown tournament on Saturday
when they play Stonehill at 12 p.m. and then Virginia State at 2:30
p.m.
