Mercy Volleyball Drops Match to C.W. Post, 3-1

DOBBS FERRY, NY - Junior outside hitter
Diana Bruzzone (Guayaquil, Ecuador) notched 12
kills and 14 digs on Thursday against East Coast Conference (ECC)
foe C.W. Post, but it wasn't enough as the Pioneers took the match
3-1.
The Pioneers (2-3, 1-0 ECC) took a hard fought set one, 25-13, but
the Mavericks stormed back to take set two 25-23. Mercy (2-6, 0-2
ECC) had 16 kills in the set. However, C.W. Post regained the
momentum by taking set three 25-9, and rode that into set four
(25-17) for the victory.
Senior setter Trevene Smith (Montego Bay, Jamaica)
had 24 assists and 14 digs. Freshman outside hitter
Bridgette Pennelle (Hawthorne, NY) and sophomore
middle hitter Mirlusca Montes (Lima, Peru) each
had 10 digs.
Laura Maehlmann had 17 kills and 15 digs for the Pioneers.
The Mavericks will host a tri-match on Saturday with Felician
College and Pace University. First Mercy will play Felician at 10
a.m., then Pace will match-up with Felician at noon, and then to
finish the day Mercy will take on Pace at 2:00 p.m.
