Mercy College Selected to NCAA Volleyball Tournament

NYCAC Champion Dowling, runner-up Mercy and semifinalist NYIT have been selected to the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship, it was announced today by the NCAA. The three teams will compete in the Northeast Regional at the Chace Athletic Center in Smithfield, Rhode Island Thursday through Saturday.

Dowling (30-8), the No. 1 seed, will take on No. 8 Goldey-Beacom (26-7). Mercy (20-11), the fourth seed, will battle No. 5 St. Rose (24-6), while No. 7 NYIT (16-15) will play the host and second seed Bryant. Match times are TBD.

This marks the fourth straight appearance for Dowling, which reached the regional final last year before falling to Queens College. The Golden Lions have been selected to eight NCAA Division II Volleyball Tournaments. Mercy is making its second straight appearance and fifth all-time, while NYIT continues the NYCAC's longest string of NCAA trips with its fifth consecutive selection.

Last year, NYCAC schools went a combined 6-3 in the Northeast Regional, with Queens advancing to the Elite Eight.
