Noble and Boots Sweep ECC Preseason Awards as Women's Soccer Selected to Finish Third in Coaches Poll

WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (Aug. 25, 2017) – Mercy College women's soccer junior Haley Noble (Torrance, Calif./Torrance) was named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and sophomore Ally Boots (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza) was tabbed Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, as the ECC Preseason awards and Coaches Poll were released by the conference office earlier today. The Mavericks were selected third in the Coaches Poll for the fourth straight year.

ECC Release

Noble was a First Team All-ECC selection in 2016 and was an NSCAA All-Region Second Team recipient. The junior scored a team-high 10 goals and had five assists for a team-high 25 points as a sophomore, earning ECC Offensive Player of the Week twice.

Boots was the ECC Rookie of the Year last season and was an NSCAA All-Region Second Team honoree. The sophomore started all 18 games as a freshman and played in a team-high 1,516 minutes.

Bridgeport enters the 2017 season as the favorite to win another ECC title according to the conference's coaches after finishing with six first place votes and 75 points overall. LIU Post was selected second with two first place votes and 72 points overall. The Mavericks picked up a first place vote and came in with 63 total points.

Head Coach Jonathan Feinstein and the Mavericks look to qualify for the ECC Tournament for the fifth straight year and advance to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in the last five years. Feinstein returns his top four scorers from last season, led by Noble, and adds a strong four-member recruiting class. Also, returning is senior Heidi Serna (West Covina, Calif./South Hills) who had six goals and a team-high six assists in 18 games. Sophomore Jessica Brandt (Folsom, Calif./Folsom) comes back after posting four goals and four assists, while senior Alyssa Iannuzzi (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) had four goals and an assist in 2016. Boots leads the returners on the backline with senior Ashley Price (Goodyear, Ariz./Millennium) returning in goal after going 11-5-1 a year ago.

Feinstein and the Mavericks open up their 2017 campaign on Friday, September 1st when they play at American International College at 7:30 p.m.
