Mavericks Face Simple Solution: Win, and We're In
The final spot in the East Coast Conference women's soccer championships is up for grabs today, as the Mercy College Mavericks (7-8, 2-4 ECC) head to Long Island to face the Lions of Molloy College (5-9-1, 3-3 ECC).
Entering the season's final day, Molloy sits in fourth place, just one game ahead of the Mavericks. CW Post (11-1-4, 6-0-1 ECC), Queens (11-6-1, 5-1-1 ECC), and Bridgeport (13-3-1, 5-1-1) have already claimed the top three berths.
Should Mercy win today's game, which will begin at noon, both teams will have identical records in the ECC, with Mercy claiming the first tie breaker: heads-to-head. Should the game result in a tie, Molloy will go through.
"This is what we have worked hard for all season," said head coach Jon Feinstein, now in his second season. "We believed we could do this. Now is the time to do it."
The match can be followed online, both via livestats and video.
The Semifinals of the ECC Championships will be played on Friday, November 5. The #4 team will head to CW Post, while Bridgeport will travel to Queens. The Finals will be held on Sunday, November 7, at the University of Bridgeport at 2:00 p.m.
