PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - The Mercy College women's soccer team fell by a score of 5-0 to host Pace University in the season opener for both programs on Saturday.
The Setters got on the scoreboard early as Mariah Darrah (Newburgh, NY) scored the first goal of the game on a feed from Meghan Tremblay (Shrub Oak, NY).
Less than one minute later, Allyson Dyl (Kearny, N.J.) made it 2-0 with the first of her two goals on the day.
Dyl later tallied her second goal, converting a feed from Taliza Costanzo (Otisville, NY) and the Setters made it 4-0 with a strike from Seanna Wright (Poughkeepsie, NY) in the 45th minute.
Costanzo tacked on Pace's fifth goal of the contest in the 52nd minute.
Mercy College goalkeeper Stephanie DiLegge (Bay Shore, NY) made eight saves in the contest.
The Mavericks will look to bounce back on Monday, August 31, when they host Wilmington at 2:00 p.m.
