DOBBS FERRY, NY - Former Salesian High School standout Marco Ferreira has been named assistant women's soccer coach at Mercy College. Ferreira will be reunited with one of his former coaches, Jonathan Feinstein, who was named head coach at Mercy College in May.
"Marco brings a tremendous passion to the Mercy College women's soccer program," Feinstein said. "He has an eye for talent and a great knowledge of the game. I look forward to watching him develop our student-athletes."
Ferreira was a four-year starter as a defender at the College of Mount Saint Vincent. He served as a team captain for two years, helping his squad to a pair of Hudson Valley finals. Ferreira earned the Dolphin Award (coaches' award) for his efforts during his senior season.
He was also a two-year team captain at Salesian, earning four varsity letters and was the squad's Most Valuable Player as a senior. Ferreira was named to the All-City Second Team as a junior and senior, leading his team to the state sectionals in both seasons.
Ferreira has been coaching youth soccer in New Rochelle since the fall of 2007 and is an assistant for Coach Francesco's Goalie Clinics in Westchester County. He also serves as a head coach with the Rivertowns Soccer Club.
Ferreira is a 2009 graduate of the College of Mount Saint Vincent. He earned a bachelor's of science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance.
