Felician Edges Mercy Women's Soccer 3-2
RUTHERFORD, NJ
- Junior forward Ann Meenagh
(Dublin,
Ireland) scored two goals for the
Mavericks, but it was not enough as Felician defeated Mercy 3-2 on
Thursday.
The Mavericks (1-7-2) got on the board first in the 12th minute
when Meenagh netted her first goal of the season. A short time
later in the 28th minute, Meenagh struck again when she beat the
defender down the side line and snuck the ball past the
goalkeeper.
Just one minute later Felician (9-8) cut the lead in half on a goal
by Lindsey Petry. Brittney Brodniak led Petry to the top of the box
where she ripped a shot from 18 yards out. In the second half
Felician tied the score at two on a goal by D.J. Jacobowitz in the
77th minute. Jacobowitz put Felician ahead in the 88th minute on a
long shot from 20 yards out in the upper right corner of the
net.
Freshman goalkeeper Jackie Roebuck
(Walden,
NY) recorded five saves for the
Mavericks.
The Mavericks will be back in action on Friday when they travel to
play Adelphi.
