Mercy's Delmara Reece Named ECC Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - Mercy College freshman women's soccer player Delmara Reece (Yonkers, NY/Saunders) has been selected as the East Coast Conference (ECC) Baden Rookie of the Week. The league announced its weekly award winners on Monday.
A 5-foot-10 forward, Reece registered a hat trick to lift the Mavericks to their first win of the year, a 4-2 decision at Concordia on Saturday. She posted her first goal in the 51st minute to give Mercy a 2-1 lead. After the Clippers tied the game at 2-2 in the 76th minute, Reece answered with what would be the game-winner in the 78th minute, and added an insurance goal on a penalty kick in the 88th minute. She currently leads the Mavericks with four goals and eight points on the season.
The Mavericks will return to action on Wednesday at Dowling, currently ranked No. 9 in the nation. Kick-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
