Late Goal Gives Queens 1-0 Decision Over Mercy College Women's Soccer

DOBBS FERRY, NY -  Laura D'Amore (Bayside, NY) scored with only 23 seconds left in regulation to give visiting Queens College a 1-0 win over Mercy College in East Coast Conference (ECC) action on Saturday. Mercy is now 0-5 overall and 0-5 in ECC play, while Queens improved to 4-7-1 overall and 2-3 in the ECC.

The contest looked as though it would head to overtime with neither team able to find the net through the first 89:37, but D'Amore picked up a missed clear by Mercy and knocked in the game-winner.

Queens out-shot the Mavericks 14-3, and held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks. Mercy goalkeeper Megan McKim (Cortlandt Manor, NY) played well in net, making five saves. Queens keeper Valentina Duque (Bronx, NY) stopped two shots.

Mercy will return to action on Tuesday, October 9, in another ECC contest at Adelphi.
