Former Mercy College Women's Soccer Standout Lindsay Levasseur Takes the Reigns at The Masters School

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - After a stellar playing career with the Mercy College women's soccer program, 2007 graduate Lindsay Levasseur (Vancouver, Canada/North Delta) has started a new chapter, taking over as the head girls varsity soccer coach at The Masters School.  Located in Dobbs Ferry, New York, The Masters School is a coed day and boarding school for 5th-12th grade students.

"I'm very excited, absolutely thrilled with this opportunity," said Levasseur. "I've been looking forward to this. I want to thank athletics director Ray Lacen for giving me this chance and thank everyone for their support, especially David Kilpatrick."

Her coaching career got off to a quick start as the Panthers opened up the 2007 campaign with a 2-0 victory over Maria Regina High School on Friday, September 14. Levasseur then moved to 2-0 at the helm with a 3-1 triumph over Long Island Lutheran High School on Saturday, September 15.  Next up is a contest at St. Luke's on Tuesday, September 18.

"I'm so proud of the girls," said Levasseur.  "The important thing was that I could see what we practiced carry over to the games. They played well as a team and I can only see them continuing to improve."

Levasseur was a model student-athlete at Mercy from 2003-2007, earning her bachelor's degree in behavioral science this past spring.  Most recently she received the Mercy College Class of 2007 Undergraduate Level Alumni Achievement Award for academic excellence and commitment to bettering the lives of others. Levasseur was also named Mercy's Coca-Cola Community All-American, served as a team-captain, is a resident assistant in the dormitory, and was named to the East Coast Conference (ECC) Fall Sports Honor Roll last year. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in English literature at Mercy College.

On the field she finished her career ranked second all-time at Mercy in career goals (8) and assists (6), third in points (21), and fourth in games played (58). She registered three goals and seven points during two different seasons (2004, 2006).
