Mercy College Women's Soccer Picked 10th in ECC Preseason Poll

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - The Mercy College women's soccer team has been selected 10th in the 2007 East Coast Conference (ECC) preseason poll, voted on by the league's head coaches.  Defending regular season champion Bridgeport has been picked to win the ECC women's soccer crown. Adelphi, the 2006 ECC Tournament Champions, and NCAA Tournament Team, the University New Haven, are picked to finish second and third, respectively. C.W. Post is the coaches' pick for fourth place.

Mercy finished the 2006 season at 2-14 overall, with both wins coming in conference play as they posted a 2-8 ECC mark.  The first league win was a 2-0 victory over Molloy, which was picked to finish fifth this year.  The other triumph was a 1-0 decision over Concordia.

First year Head Coach Joe Mendonca will return seven letter winners from last year's squad, including five starters. The Mavericks will open the 2007 slate on Saturday, September 22, with a home ECC contest versus St. Thomas Aquinas College at 12:00 p.m.

The 2007 ECC Women's Soccer Tournament will take place on November 2, and November 4.
