Mercy Women's Soccer Falls in Final Contest to
NYIT, 2-0 
DOBBS FERRY, NY- The Mercy women's soccer team fell 2-0 to NYIT on Tuesday, October 24, in its final game of the season. Mercy finishes the year at 2-14-0 overall and 2-8-0 in East Coast Conference (ECC) play, while NYIT improved to 8-10-0 overall and 4-5-0 in the ECC.
Candace Grosser (Levittown, NY) put the Bears up early, scoring in the second minute of play. Mercy committed a foul and Grosser took the direct kick for NYIT from about 35 yards out, placing it over the head of Mercy's freshman goalkeeper Sasha Atkins (Bronx, NY). With under a minute to play in the first half, the Bears tacked on another goal. There was a scramble in front of the net and Melanie Pinzon (Bellerose, NY) converted, making the score 2-0.
Atkins and freshman Nicolina Coppola (College Point, NY) each played one half in net for Mercy. In the first half Atkins recorded three saves while Coppola added two in the second. Jenna Ament (East Norwich, NY) and Crystal Pinzon (Bellerose, NY) also split their time in goal for NYIT, with Pinzon making one stop in the second frame.
"Our seniors (Bia Pante, Khadijah Khan, Chioma Egbuchunam, and Lindsay LeVasseur) all played a great game today," said head coach Bobby Czumak. "Bia played well in the midfield, while (Casey) Kondelka was a leader in the backfield for us today."
