New Haven Tops Mercy Women's Soccer, 5-0

            West Haven, CT- The Mercy College women's soccer team fell to New Haven 5-0, in East Coast Conference (ECC) play on Wednesday, October 11.  Mercy is now 2-10-0 overall and 2-6-0 in the ECC. New Haven improved to 10-4-2 overall and 6-1-1 in ECC play.

            New Haven was able to score three goals in the first half.  Leading the way in the first half with two goals was Crystal Lindsay (New Haven, CT).  The first goal came in the 14^th minute of play when Desiree Guenther (Santee, CA) fed Lindsey who converted.  Selina Moylan (Clare, Ireland) scored the second goal of the half at 34:06, when she got her foot on a rebound and found the back of the net.  Lindsay's second goal was at the 34:27 mark, putting New Haven up 3-0. 

            The Chargers tacked on two more goals in the second half, both coming from Anna Schueneman (St. Joseph, MI).  Her first was scored in the 65^th minute on a long pass from Clare Timoney (Ballymena, Northern Ireland).  Her second goal came at the 88:34 mark on a long pass over the Mercy defense from Allison Shiner (Guilford, CT).

           Mercy goalkeeper Chioma Eqbuchunam (Lagos, Nigeria) recorded 11 saves.

           "Chimoa played well in net and Stephanie Bann had a great game in the field," said head coach Bobby Czumak.

          Mercy will be back in action again on Saturday, October 14, at Nyack.
