Boxscore
WATERBURY, CT - The Mercy College women's soccer team fell by a score of 1-0 to host Post University on Monday, September 25. Post improved to 5-5-1 on the year and Mercy is now 1-5-0 overall.
The game remained scoreless until the 89th minute of play, when Post's Kelli Veras (Trumbull, CT), served a cross to Kaitlyn Delaney (Springfield, MA) who netted the game-winning goal for the Eagles
With Mercy playing short-handed, Post had a 40-2 advantage in shots, but freshman goalkeeper Becky Pelow (Mexico, NY) kept the Flyers in the contest by making 26 saves. The Mercy back line of freshman Casey Kondelka (Bloomingburg, NY), freshman Stephanie Bann (New Cumberland, PA), and junior Bia Pante (Vancouver, Canada), allowed Post to take only three corner kicks.
"Becky played awesome today and our defense was outstanding," said head coach Bobby Czumak. "Casey, Stephanie and Bia put on an admirable performance."
Mercy will be back in action again on Wednesday, September 27, at Queens.
