Jacqueline Pierce joined the Mercy College
Department of Athletics in October of 2010 as the Equipment Manager
as well as the First Assistant for both the Women’s Lacrosse
and Field Hockey programs. Entering her second season as the first
assistant to Francesca DeLorenzo, she is focused on helping build a
stand-out program in the ECC.
Immediately upon her arrival in 2010, she stepped in and worked
primarily with the defense, while still helping with the attack and
goalkeepers as well. She has a great passion for the sport of
lacrosse and it shows on and off the field.
Prior to her arrival at Mercy College, Pierce graduated from
Sacred Heart in June 2010 with a psychology degree, where she
won 3 NEC Titles under current head coach Laura Cook. Jackie was an
All-NEC pick in 2009 and made the All-NEC Tournament team in 2009
and 2010. In 2008, Pierce was involved in the first-ever NEC
Championship team in program history, continuing their reign in
2009 and 2010 for a final of 3 consecutive titles.
At Sacred Heart, she took on the role as the leader on the
defensive end during her sophomore and junior seasons. She held
team records in groundballs and caused turnovers during all three
years. During her senior year, she battled through injuries, but
became a crucial midfielder for the Pioneers. She was fourth in
scoring with 22 goals and 15 assists as well as holding the highest
scoring percentage for the team. Also, she came picked up 26
groundballs and ranked third on the team with 22 caused
turnovers.
Her work ethic on and off the field will help continue with
the growing success of the Mercy Lacrosse program. Off the field,
she has contributed to team fundraising, equipment, recruiting and
practice planning. With her knowledge of the game and dedication to
the program, she is excited to see the growth of the team, day in
and day out.
As well as the lacrosse assistant, she serves as assistant
coach to Head Field Hockey Coach Kayte Kinsley. Although Pierce did
not play field hockey in college, she was a well-known player in
Section One and played for Walter Panas High School. She will work
primarily with the goalies during the field hockey season while
still helping with the defense.
In high school lacrosse, Pierce was named as an All-League
selection in 2004, 2005 and 2006, as well as earning All-Section
honors in 2005 and 2006. During her season year
she earned All-American Honorable Mention
honors. From 2004-2006 she was named to the Journal
News and North County News Section 1 teams.
Throughout the past year, Pierce has also been the head coach
for the U15 WestRock Girl’s Lacrosse team. Only in their
second year as a travel program, she looks to continue coaching
travel lacrosse and local camps through the summer and fall
seasons.
Pierce currently resides in Cortlandt Manor, N.Y. While
working at Mercy, she is continuing with her education and in
the process of earning her Master's in School Counseling.
