Megan Frey was named an assistant women's lacrosse coach at Mercy College in July of 2009.
"Megan will bring so much to this team in many ways. She is extremely dedicated to our recruiting efforts and I know she will be a positive influence on our players. She will be a great help to me in building this program," DeLorenzo said.
"I am thrilled to be joining the coaching staff at Mercy College and to be working with Francesca, who is committed to the success of the program," Frey said. "Coaching is my passion and I look forward to contributing to the future success of Mercy women's lacrosse."
Frey was a member of the Marist College women's lacrosse team for the 2005-06 year, playing attack, before being restricted by injury. Prior to her time with the Red Foxes, she was a four-time Rockland County All-Star and three-time All-Section selection at Nanuet High School where she broke the school record for career assists. Frey helped lead her squad to the state final four twice, serving as a team captain and was named the team's Most Valuable Player as a senior. She was also a member of the Empire Girls' Lax Club and competed in the Empire State Games and National Tournament.
Frey has served as a youth coach since 2001 with several Rockland County camps and clinics including: Nanuet High School, Go 2 Goal Camps, and Shooting Stars Camps. She also worked with Spitfires Girls Lacrosse Club in Westchester County in 2005-06. Megan has also been a certified official in NYS.
She is a 2009 graduate of Marist College where she was a
psychology and special education major with dual certification for
first through sixth grade. Frey is also an accomplished singer,
having performed at Carnegie Hall numerous times with her college
choir. She comes from a family of lacrosse players with her sister,
Hannah, currently playing for Boston University and her cousin,
Emily Leitner, a goaltender at the University of Pennsylvania.
