Mercy Women's Lacrosse Falls to #10 Molloy, But Finish Inaugural Season with Winning Record
Despite falling to East Coast Conference opponent #10 Molloy
College on Wednesday afternoon, the Mercy College women's
lacrosse team ended its inaugural season with an overall winning
mark of 8-6 (3-4 ECC). The final score in the game was
23-4.
The goal scorers for the Mavericks were Jamie McPartland (North Massapequa, N.Y./Farmingdale) and Kelsey Sullivan (Mastic, N.Y./Eastport South Manor). McPartland recorded a hat trick in the game, and Sullivan had a goal and an assist. Freshman goalies Lauren Mateja (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) turned aside 18 shots in the game.
Besides the goal scorers, other contributors included Stephanie DiLegge (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) and Dana Harjus (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst), who each grabbed a game-high four ground balls. DiLegge also caused two turnovers on defense.
