Welcome to the Women's Lacrosse Inaugural Season Blog!
Throughout the season, freshman goalie Lauren Mateja will blog about her experiences on the women's lacrosse team. You'll get an inside look at the creation if a new team, a new season, and a new program.
Lauren hails from King of Prussia, Penn., just northwest of Philadelphia. This area is a hotbed for women's lacrosse, and Lauren brings a talented play to the Mavericks this year.
A graduate of Upper Merion Area High School, she played lacrosse for three years, and field hockey for one. An Academic All-American in 2009, she was named PhillyLacrosse.com/ Longstreth Female Athlete of the Week in April of 2009. Additionally, she earned Suburban One League Second Team honors, and was named Second Team All-Area by the Times Herald.
Lauren was honored by the East Coast Conference on Monday, May 3, as the ECC's Goalkeeper of the Week.
