DOBBS FERRY, NY -  The Mercy College women's lacrosse program will begin as a family affair as Kimberly DeLorenzo has been named assistant coach, joining her sister Francesca DeLorenzo who was tabbed as the first head coach in October.  This sister act will continue recruiting and laying the groundwork in preparation for the program's inaugural 2009-10 season.

"There is no better person to take on this responsibility than Kim.  She will be such a tremendous asset to the program because of her amazing collegiate achievements in lacrosse and her in-depth knowledge of the game," Francesca DeLorenzo said.  "She knows first-hand what it will take to make this program a success."

DeLorenzo was captain from 2007-08 and was counted on for leadership on and off the field.

DeLorenzo also won several academic and athletic honors as an undergraduate. She was named to the ECC Women's Lacrosse Honor Roll in 2006 and 2007, ECC All-Region Second Team in 2006 and 2007, NCAA Division II Statistical Champion of Draw Controls in 2007, and earned several Dean's List accolades.
