Mercy Women's Basketball Announces 2010-11 Captains

Mercy College head women’s basketball coach Kelli Dunlay has announced Simone Williams and Ashley Borofsky as captains for the 2010-11 season.

Williams (Waldorf, Md./Lackey) enters her second season in the leadership role for the Mavericks.  Last season, the 5-6 junior guard led the team, and was third in the East Coast Conference, in assists with 115.  Her 62 steals also led the team, and was second in the ECC.

Borofsky (Southington, Conn./Southington) was the Mavericks leading scorer in 2009-10 with 328 points, which ranked ninth overall in the ECC.  The 5-10 senior guard led the team, and the ECC, in minutes per game, averaging 37.7.

Mercy (1-2) defeated Georgian Court on Tuesday evening, 71-62. The Mavericks had opened the season with a pair of losses in the Dominican College Tip-Off Tournament, falling to the hosts, 63-52, and Nyack, 70-62. Up next, Mercy travels to Felician College this afternoon, then hosts Dowling College on Saturday, November 20, at 1:00 p.m.
