The Mavericks extended their nine-point run in the final minute of the half with another 3-ball from Borofsky.

With 19 seconds left in the period, Dowling’s sophomore forward Hannah Krueger (Mentone, Ind.) sunk two free throws to put Dowling ahead 39-32 with 10 seconds remaining. After two missed free throws on the Mavericks’ end, Reece grabbed the Golden Lions’ inbound pass and dished it to Borofsky under the basket brought the Mavericks back within five, 39-34 at the halftime break.

The Mavericks will finish their three-game homestand with another conference contest against C.W. Post. The Mavericks and Pioneers will tip off on Saturday, Jan. 16 at noon at Mercy College Gym.
