Borofsky Named To Saint Anselm All-Tournament Team, Despite 87-55 Loss To No. 2 Franklin Pierce

Borofsky scored 26 points over two-day Holiday Classic.
HANOVER, N.H. – The Mercy College women’s basketball team traveled to Hanover, N.H. for a two-day holiday tournament hosted by Saint Anselm of the Northeast 10. On the second day of the tournament, junior Ashley Borofsky (Southington, Conn./Southington) was named to the All-Tournament Classic.
On Wednesday, the Mavericks lost to No. 2 Franklin Pierce, 87-55, despite Borofsky’s 15 points and junior Delmara Reece’s (Yonkers, N.Y./Saunders) sixth double-double of the season with 13 points, 10 rebounds.
Borofsky had 26 points over the two-day Holiday Classic. Against Franklin Pierce, the junior shot 5-for-11 from the floor, 3-for-6 from 3-point line and a perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw line.
With the loss against the undefeated, 10-0, Franklin Pierce, the Mavericks fall to 3-7 overall on the season.
The Mercy women will look to get back to their winning ways on Wednesday, Jan. 6 when they return to New York and to East Coast Conference play. The Mavericks will travel to Sparkhill, N.Y. to compete against the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans at Aquinas Hall. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
