Borofsky Tallies Season-high 18 In Women's 97-53 Loss At C.W. Post

Mavericks even record at 1-1 in the East Coast Conference.
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. -- Junior Ashley Borofsky (Southington, Conn./Southington) posted a season-high 18 points at the Pratt Center on Saturday afternoon in the Mercy College women's basketball team's 97-53 loss to C.W. Post.
With the loss, the Mavericks even their record in the East Coast Conference at 1-1, their overall record falls to 1-4.
Borofsky was 7-for-16 from the floor, 2-for-4 from the 3-point range and 2-for-4 at the charity stripe. Thirteen of her 18 points came in the first half of play, where the Mavericks fell behind 44-26 going into the halftime break. Borofsky was the lone player in double-digits at the end of the half.
Sophomore Simone Williams (Waldorf, Md./Waldorf) went a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line en route to a second-best team high of 10 points. Williams had four assists and four steals.
The C.W. Post's Felicia Joyner scored 29 points for the Pioneers, shooting 12-for-15 from the floor and a perfect 3-for-3 from the 3-point arc and 2-for-2 from the free throw line.
Four Pioneer players scored in the double digits.
Next up, the Mavericks will open their home season in the Mercy College Gymnasium with a conference doubleheader against Bridgeport on Dec. 9. Tip off is slated for 5 p.m. and will start with the women, followed by the men at 7 p.m.
