Women's Basketball Falls to STAC 67-58
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. -- The Mercy College women’s basketball team lost a hard-fought 67-58 game to St. Thomas Aquinas in front of 138 people at the Mercy College Gym on Wednesday night.
The Mavericks (4-14; 3-9 ECC) had four players score in double
digits, led by junior Ashley Borofsky and sophomore Jasmine
Williams, who scored 13 points apiece. Junior Delmara Reece added
11, while Sophomore Simone Williams chipped in ten.
The game’s leading scorer was Shpresa Liharevic of St. Thomas Aquinas (9-9, 5-7 ECC), who scored 16 points. Theresa Dowling scored 13, Colleen Vogel 11, and Sylvia Davis 10.
The Mavericks were in the game early, and took an early four
point lead with 8:08 to play in the first stanza. The game stayed
tight, with the the score tied late in the first half. But the
Spartans scored the last eight points of the first half to take a
36-28. It was a lead that STAC would never relinquish.
