Christina Baxter Named to All-Met
Women's Basketball Second Team
DOBBS FERRY, NY - Mercy College senior guard
Christina Baxter (Greenwood Lake, NY) has been
named to the 2008-09 Division II Women's Basketball All-Met Second
Team as voted by the Met Basketball Writers Association. She will
be honored at the 76th annual NIT/MBWA Awards Dinner on Wednesday,
April 15th at the Giants Stadium Club in East Rutherford, NJ.
Baxter was also named to the All-East Coast Conference (ECC) Second
Team this season for the second year in a row. During her sophomore
season she was named to the Third Team and as a freshman she earned
Rookie of the Year honors.
Baxter led the Mavericks in scoring during the regular season and
came in fifth overall in the conference with 16.2 points per game.
The Tuxedo High School graduate led the conference in assists per
game with 6.1 which was good for ninth in the nation. She became
the program's all-time leader in assists (538) on the final day of
the regular season, and is fifth in scoring (1,501) and seventh in
steals (227). She is the only student-athlete in program history to
record 1,500 points and 500 assists.

As a senior she established new career highs in scoring with 33
points against Queens College and 12 assists against Concordia
College and NYIT. Baxter poured in 31 points against Nyack College
and pulled down a career-high nine rebounds. She reached double
figures in points scored in 23-of-27 games played and had six games
with 10 assists or more.
Baxter helped lead the Mavericks to its first conference tournament
appearance since 2001-02 season. The Blue & White finished with
10 wins, the most in a single season since 1996-97.
Baxter will graduate from Mercy College in May with a criminal
justice major.
The Met Basketball Writers Association awards is the oldest such
awards program in the United States.
