Baxter, Levine Earn All-ECC Women's Basketball Honors for Mercy College

DOBBS FERRY, NY - Mercy College senior guard Christina Baxter (Greenwood Lake, NY) was named to the All-East Coast Conference Second Team and freshman guard Aimee Levine (Flushing, NY) was named to the All-East Coast Conference (ECC) Rookie Team, as announced on Tuesday.

Baxter led the Mavericks in scoring during the regular season and came in fifth overall in the conference with 16.2 points per game. The Greenwood Lake native led the conference in assists per game with 6.1 which is good for ninth in the nation. She became the program's all-time leader in assists (534) on the final day of the regular season, and currently stands at fifth in scoring (1482) and seventh in steals (226).

Baxter established career-highs in points per game (33 vs. Queens) and assists per game (12 vs. Concordia and NYIT). She also put up 31 points against Nyack and had a career-high nine rebounds. She reached double figures in points scored in 23-of-27 games played and had six games with 10 assists or more.

Baxter has received an All-Conference honor every year of her collegiate career. As a freshman she was named New York Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year. The following year she was named to the All-ECC Third Team and last year to the Second Team.

Levine averaged 8.6 points per game, 3.9 rebounds per game and 2.1 assists per game. She scored 21 points against Dowling on 9-of-15 shooting. Against Queens she scored 20 points and added five rebounds.

Levine also established career highs against Nyack with 10 rebounds and against Adelphi with eight assists. She finished second in steals on the team, to Baxter, with 50. Levine flourished in the second half of the season, starting 11 of the last 12 games and averaging 12.1 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per game in the final eight contests.

The No. 7 seeded Mavericks (10-17, 7-11 ECC) will now head into the ECC Quarterfinals by traveling to play at No. 2 Dowling (20-7, 14-4 ECC) on Wednesday, March 4 at 5 p.m.
