Christina Baxter Selected to PrestoSports/MBWA Weekly Honor Roll

DOBBS FERRY, NY - Mercy College women's basketball standout Christina Baxter (Greenwood Lake, NY/Tuxedo) has been selected to the PrestoSports/Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Weekly Honor Roll, it was announced on Monday.

Baxter, a 5-foot-6 guard, led the Mavericks to a pair of East Coast Conference (ECC) victories by shooting 52 percent from the field, averaging 21.5 points, along with 7.0 assists, and 3.5 steals. In the process, she has moved into 10th place all-time at Mercy with 260 career assists. On the year, Baxter is averaging a team-best 14.3 points, 5.4 assists, and 2.7 steals.

In Mercy's 72-68 win over Dowling, she netted 22 points, hitting 6-of-13 from the field and 9-of-10 at the free throw line, while handing out five assists and picking up four steals. Trailing 62-60, she went 7-for-8 at the charity stripe over the final 4:29 to help the Mavericks come from behind. Baxter then narrowly missed a double-double versus Concordia, scoring a game-high 21 points, dishing out nine assists, and also collected three steals in a 75-73 victory.

The Mavericks play again on Wednesday, December 12, at NYIT with a 5:00 p.m. tip-off.  Fans in attendance can receive free admission by donating an unwrapped toy to the NYIT Student Athlete Advisory Committee's "Toys for Tots" drive.  Fans that can't make it to the game can watch live at http://www.eccsports.tv/ for the low price of $5.50 for each game.
