Christina Baxter Earns Third PrestoSports/MBWA Weekly Honor Roll Selection
DOBBS FERRY, NY - Mercy College women's basketball player Christina Baxter (Greenwood Lake, NY/Tuxedo) has been selected to the PrestoSports/Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Weekly Honor Roll for the third time this season.
Baxter, a 5-foot-6 junior guard, averaged 17.5 points, 8.5 assists, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals in a 1-1 week for the Mavericks. In a 66-62 win at Concordia on Wednesday, she netted 14 points and dished out 10 assists to go along with eight rebounds and two steals. She followed up 21 points, seven assists, three rebounds, and three steals, hitting 12-of-13 attempts at the charity stripe in a 67-60 defeat to NYIT on Saturday.
For the season, Baxter leads the team in scoring with 15.0 points per game, assists with 5.8 per game and steals with 2.1 per game. In her collegiate career, she has scored 935 points and has moved into seventh place all-time at Mercy with 344 assists.
The Mavericks (6-15, 6-19 ECC) play again on Wednesday, February 13, when they travel to Adelphi. Mercy will then close out the home slate on Saturday, February 16, versus Molloy. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m. at Dobbs Ferry High School.
