Mavericks Take Down Concordia, 66-62
BRONXVILLE, NY – The Mercy College
women’s basketball team had three players with double-doubles
as they defeated Concordia on Wednesday by a score of 66-62. The
Mavericks’ improved its record to 6-14 overall and 6-8 in
East Coast Conference (ECC) play.
Freshman forward Delmara Reece (Yonkers, NY)
recorded her twelfth double-double of the season by scoring 19 and
grabbing a career-high 24 rebounds. Freshman forward Ashley
Finnegan (Worcester, MA) also notched a double-double with
17 points and 10 boards. Junior guard Christina Baxter
(Greenwood Lake, NY) added 14 points and 10 assists.
Amanda Eggink led the Clippers (1-18 overall, 1-13 ECC) with 14
points and eight boards. Shari Cordero was big on the offensive
glass with seven rebounds and 13 total rebounds. She also added 10
points.
Mercy led by just three points at the half (37-34) with both teams
shooting well from the floor. However, Concordia went cold in the
second half, making only seven shots. The Mavericks out rebounded
the Clippers 54 to 45 with both teams snaring 21 offensive
rebounds.
The Mavericks will be back in action on Saturday, February 9, when
they host NYIT at 1 p.m.
