Mercy College Women's Basketball to Think Pink for Game Against NYIT on Saturday, February 9

DOBBS FERRY, NY -  The Mercy College women's basketball team will be one of over 800 collegiate programs to participate in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) "Think Pink" campaign on Saturday, February 9, when it hosts NYIT.

The WBCA's "Think Pink" initiative is a global, unified effort for the WBCA's nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The NCAA has also joined the WBCA's "Think Pink" initiative by implementing the "Calling for a Cure" campaign where all NCAA women's basketball officials will be blowing a pink whistle February 8-17. Additionally, officials are encouraged to make a donation to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.

Mercy's women's basketball team, coaches and staff will take part in the awareness efforts by wearing pink, and donating all proceeds from ticket and apparel sales to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.

Fans are asked to wear pink to the game and will be admitted free with a donation of $2 or more to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.  There will also be giveaways throughout the game, which is scheduled to tip-off at 1:00 p.m., followed by the men at approximately 3:00 p.m.  Both contests will be played at Dobbs Ferry High School.

For more information on making a donation to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund, please visit http://www.wbca.org/kayyowwbcacancerfund.asp.
