Mercy's Christina Baxter Selected to PrestoSports/MBWA Weekly Honor Roll
DOBBS FERRY, NY - Mercy College women's basketball player Christina Baxter (Greenwood Lake, NY/Tuxedo) has been selected to the PrestoSports/Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Weekly Honor Roll for the second time this season, it was announced on Monday.
A 5-foot-6 guard, Baxter averaged 19.0 points, 7.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals in two games last week. She opened with 18 points and five assists on Wednesday versus Bridgeport, before wrapping up the week with 20 points and nine assists against Queens on Saturday.
For the year, Baxter leads the squad and ranks seventh in the East Coast Conference (ECC) in scoring at 14.2 points per game and leads the league in assists at 5.53 per game. She also ranks ninth in the ECC in steals with 2.12 per game and 10th in free throw percentage at 74.5.
The Mavericks (5-12, 5-6 ECC) play again on Thursday, January 31, when they host league leading New Haven (11-7, 11-0 ECC) at The Masters School beginning at 6:00 p.m. Fans that can't make it to the game can listen live via the Internet at http://www.teamline.cc/teampage?teamcode=6922.
