Mavericks Drop Match to Bloomfield, 3-0

DOBBS FERRY, NY - The Mercy College women's volleyball team was defeated by Bloomfield on Saturday by a score of 3-0.
The Mavericks (2-4) got strong performances from many of their student-athletes. Senior setter Trevene Smith (Montego Bay, Jamaica) and freshman outside hitter Bridgette Pennelle (Hawthorne, NY) each had 13 assists. Junior outside hitter Diana Bruzzone (Guayaquil, Ecuador) notched 13 digs and 10 kills.
Mercy played the Lady Deacons (2-2) tough for each of the first sets, but dropped the first set 25-19 and the second 25-20. Bloomfield won the final set 25-16.
Brunna Coutinho had 10 kills for the Lady Deacons.
The Mavericks will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to East Coast Conference (ECC) rival Dowling. Mercy will return home on Thursday, September 11 to face C.W. Post at 7:00 p.m. in the Dobbs Ferry Gymnasium.
