Mercy Volleyball Takes Home Opener Against Post, 3-0

DOBBS FERRY, NY - The Mercy College volleyball
team defeated Post University in its home opener on Tuesday by a
score of 3-0.
The Mavericks (2-2) won all three sets by a score of 25-22, 25-20
and 25-22. Junior outside hitter Diana Bruzzone (Guayaquil,
Ecuador) recorded 10 kills and 23 digs. Sophomore middle
hitter Shedeiky Hamilton (Yallahs, Jamaica)
contributed with 12 kills on 24 attempts and senior setter
Trevene Smith (Montego Bay, Jamaica) notched 35
assists.
Mercy went up 10-3 in the first set, but Post roared back to cut
the deficit to one. However, the Blue & White never
relinquished the lead and won the set 25-22. The Mavericks kept the
pressure on in the final sets and had a .267 attack percentage.
Freshman defensive specialist Rosie Fernandez led Post with 15
digs.
The Mavericks will be back in action on Thursday at Southern
Connecticut State. Mercy will return home on Saturday against
Bloomfield at 1:00 p.m.
