Mercy Volleyball Drops ECC Match to C.W. Post, 3-1
BROOKVILLE, NY
- The Mercy College women's volleyball team was
defeated by East Coast Conference (ECC) opponent C.W. Post by a
score of 3-1 on Tuesday.
Sophomore middle hitter Shedeiky Hamilton
(Yallahs,
Jamaica) led the Mavericks with
14 kills on 28 attempts for a .393 hitting percentage. Senior
setter Trevene Smith (Montego
Bay,
Jamaica) added 32 assists, while
sophomore middle hitter Mirlusca Montes
(Lima,
Peru) had 17 digs and three
service aces.
C.W. Post (7-10, 4-5 ECC) took the first set (25-19) with
aggressive net play as they collected 13 kills in the set. The
Mavericks (6-17, 1-9 ECC) responded with 25-19 win of their own in
the second set. Mercy had a .281 hitting percentage, their best of
any set.
The Pioneers came back strong in sets three and four with a
combined hitting percentage of .346 and 23 kills. They took set
three 25-17 and set four 25-11.
Sammy Figliolia had 10 kills and 10 digs for C.W. Post.
The Mavericks will be back in action on Thursday, October 16 when
they play host to Queens at 7:00 p.m.
