Mercy Volleyball Setback by Queens College, 3-0

FLUSHING, NY - The Mercy College women's volleyball team was defeated by Queens College on Tuesday by a score of 3-0.

Freshman setter Bridgette Pennelle (Hawthorne, NY) recorded 25 assists and four digs. Sophomore middle hitter Shedeiky Hamilton (Yallahs, Jamaica) notched 11 kills on 22 attempts. Junior outside hitter Diana Bruzzone (Guayaquil, Ecuador) had six kills and eight digs for the Mavericks.

Queens College, an East Coast Conference (ECC) foe, took the first set 25-16 in part to a .367 attack percentage. The Mavericks (3-8, 0-3 ECC) had more total attacks (24 to 22) in the second set, but couldn't convert their attempts. The Knights (7-3, 2-1 ECC) had 13 kills and took set two 25-18. Queens closed out the match with a 25-21 victory in set three.

Natalie Edward had a .500 attack percentage with 15 kills on 26 attempts. Antonia Klein notched 31 assists and 10 digs for the Knights.

The Mavericks will be back in action when they travel for a non-conference tilt at Dominican on Thursday.
