Mercy's Shedeiky Hamilton Claims Third Selection as ECC Volleyball Rookie of the Week

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. -  Mercy College freshman volleyball player Shedeiky Hamilton (Yallahs, Jamaica) has been selected as the Baden East Coast Conference (ECC) Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday.  It marks the second straight week she earned the honor and third time this season.

A 5-foot-9 middle hitter, Hamilton posted a .237 attack percentage in two matches last week, collecting 17 kills while making only eight errors in 38 attempts. She also added nine digs, four aces, and two block assists. 

Hamilton registered 10 kills, four aces, five digs, and two block assists versus Adelphi. She then recorded seven kills and four digs at C.W. Post.  Hamilton finished the year as the Mavericks' leader in attack percentage at .210, and finished second at 0.53 blocks per game.

Mercy wrapped up the year at 9-17 overall and 1-8 in ECC play.  The nine wins was a five-win improvement over the 2006 season.
