Mavericks Take Down Molloy 3-1 in ECC Volleyball

DOBBS FERRY, NY - Three Mavericks registered double-digit kills as the Mercy College women's volleyball team knocked off Molloy by a score of 3-1 in an East Coast Conference (ECC) match on Thursday. The Mavericks improved to 9-15 overall and 1-6 in ECC play, while the Lions fell to 13-14 overall and 3-5 in the league.

Molloy won the first game 30-26, but Mercy responded by taking the next three games 30-16, 30-17, and 30-28.

Mercy's junior setter Trevene Smith (Montego Bay, Jamaica) put up a match-high 53 assists to set the table for the attack.  Sophomore Diana Bruzzone (Guayaquil, Ecuador) led all players with 19 kills, and narrowly missed a triple-double by adding match-highs of 17 digs and nine service aces. Senior Mariola St. Fleur (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) posted 18 kills and picked up eight digs. Senior Natalee Carty (Kingston, Jamaica) recorded 13 kills and 11 digs.

Diann Drury led Molloy with 11 kills and Arielle Wichard added eight. Monika Rodziewicz picked up 12 digs for the Lions.

The Mavericks return to action on Tuesday, October 30, when they host Adelphi at 7:00 p.m. in their final home match of the season.  Mercy will honor its seniors prior to the match.
