Mavericks Volleyball Falls in Three to Concordia
DOBBS FERRY, NY - The Mercy College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision at the hands of visiting Concordia College on Monday. The Mavericks are now 7-15 overall and 0-6 in East Coast Conference (ECC) play, while the Clippers improved to 11-10 overall and 1-4 in league action.
After Concordia edged Mercy in game one by a score of 30-27, the Clippers took the second game 30-22, and closed it out 30-20 in game three.
Sophomore Diana Bruzzone (Guayaquil, Ecuador) tied a match-high with 13 kills and posted 10 digs for Mercy. Senior Mariola St. Fleur (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) recorded nine kills and five digs. Senior Natalee Carty (Kingston, Jamaica) added four kills and a match-high 13 digs.
Senior Tiffany Edwards (Baytown, TX) and freshman Maddy Lorenz (Spokane, WA) registered 13 kills each for Concordia, tying Bruzzone for a match-high. Edwards made only one error in 25 attempts (.480) and added 10 digs, while Lorenz picked up eight digs. Senior Shannon Flaherty (Spokane, WA) put up a match-high 34 assists for the Clippers.
Mercy will return to action on Tuesday, October 23, with a non-conference match at Post University, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
