Mavericks Blank Felician and St. Michael's on Day Two of Assumption Volleyball Tournament
WORCESTER, MA - The Mercy College women's volleyball team posted a pair of 3-0 victories on day two of the Assumption Tournament, defeating Felican by scores of 30-16, 30-20, and 30-17, before downing St. Michael's 30-22, 30-24, and 30-26. The Mavericks finished the season-opening tournament with a 2-1 record.
In the contest versus Felician, sophomore Shedeiky Hamilton (Yallahs, Jamaica) posted 11 kills and eight blocks for Mercy, while sophomore Diana Bruzzone (Guayaquil, Ecuador) registered 10 kills and 14 digs. Junior Trevene Smith (Montego Bay, Jamaica) put up 29 assists and senior Natalee Carty (Kingston, Jamaica) picked up 17 digs.
Senior Mariola St. Fleur (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) paced the Mavericks with 17 kills against St. Michael's. Carty collected 18 digs and nine kills. Senior Fernanda Ramos (Salvador, Brazil) posted 15 digs, and Smith added another 39 assists.
The Mavericks will return to action on Thursday, September 6, at Pace. Start time is set for 7:00 p.m.
