ECC Announces 2007 Women's Volleyball Preseason Poll
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - The Mercy College women's volleyball team has been selected 10th in the 2007 East Coast Conference (ECC) preseason poll, voted on by the league's head coaches. Two-time defending regular season and three-time debfending conference tournament champion, Dowling has been picked to reclaim the ECC volleyball title in 2007. The University of New Haven and NYIT, are picked to finish second and third, respectively. C.W. Post is the coaches' pick for fourth place.
Mercy finished the 2006 season at 4-18 overall and 0-9 in ECC play. The Mavericks closed out the campaign with a 3-1 non-conference triumph over Bloomfield in their regular season finale, and posted three victories in October.
Fifth year Head Coach Jennifer Addison will return six letter winners from last year's squad, including five starters. The Mavericks will open up their 2007 campaign at a tournament hosted by Assumption on August 31, and September 1. Mercy is slated to play its home opener on September 18, versus Southern Connecticut State, and its conference opener at home on September 25, versus New Haven.
The 2007 ECC Women's Volleyball Tournament will take place from November 7-9.
