Mercy Volleyball Defeated by New Haven 3-1

            WEST HAVEN, CT - Three Flyers recorded double-digit kills, but the Mercy College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (30-13, 31-33, 30-11, 30-19) decision at the University of New Haven in an East Coast Conference (ECC) match on Thursday.  Mercy is now 3-14 overall and 0-5 in ECC play, while New Haven improved to 15-11 overall and 6-1 in league action.

            Mariola St. Fleur (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) and Diana Bruzzone (Guayaquil, Ecuador) led the Mercy offense with 11 kills each.  St. Fleur also registered 12 digs, two blocks and three service aces, while Bruzzone recorded six digs and two service aces. Natalee Carty (Kingston, Jamaica) added 10 kills, and Rose Harper (Croton, NY) picked up 11 digs for the Flyers. Melissa Baccari (Rego Park, NY) put up 32 assists.

            New Haven's Rhe-Ann Niles led all players with 17 kills and had five service aces. Helena Castro knocked down 14 kills and posted 10 digs.

            Mercy will return to action on Tuesday, October 17, at Adelphi in another ECC contest.
