St. Rose Defeats Mercy Volleyball in Flyers' Home Opener

DOBBS FERRY, NY - The Mercy College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision at the hands of visiting St. Rose in the Flyers' home opener on Tuesday night. St. Rose won three straight games by scores of 30-23, 30-20, and 30-28. Mercy is now 1-10 overall, while St. Rose improved to 11-2.

Freshman Diana Bruzzone (Guayaquil, Ecuador) paced the Flyers' attack by knocking down 10 kills and making only two errors in 29 attempts.  She also added 13 digs.  Senior Mariola St. Fleur (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) added nine kills and 10 digs for Mercy.  Senior Melissa Baccari (Rego Park, NY) put up 26 assists and seven kills.

Sally Munter (Chesapeake, VA) led St. Rose with 14 kills, while Stephanie Brink (Port Ewen, NY) added 11. Shannon Campbell (Charlton, NY) recorded 51 assists and Mary German (Canandaigua, NY) registered 22 digs.

Mercy is back in action again on Thursday, September 29, in an East Coast Conference (ECC) match at home.
