Michael Fazio was named the head coach of the Mercy College cross country program in January 2010. Fazio is also in his second season as the assistant coach of the Mavericks' women's softball team.

Fazio comes to Mercy College with over 25 years of softball coaching experience. Fazio's most recent position was at Joel Barlow High School (Redding, Conn.) where he was a varsity girls assistant softball coach. At Barlow he was responsible for running practices, assisting in strategic in-game decisions, recruiting and scheduling.

From 1996-2007, Fazio was the assistant coach at Danbury High School in Danbury, Conn. where he helped guide the Hatters to nine postseason appearances and twice reached the semi-finals in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference (FCIAC). He also was an assistant coach in Danbury's varsity girls basketball program.

Fazio has had success on travel tournament teams as well. He coached the U-14 Danbury Debs into the U-14 Pony National Tournament, guided the U-23 Danbury Debs to several tournament championships, and took the U-18 Western Connecticut Firebirds to two national tournament appearances. He also coached in the Danbury Women's Fast Pitch Softball League and captured a division or tournament championship in all but one season from 1980-1991.

He received his bachelor's degree in business administration from Iona College.

Fazio was a member of the track & field team for the Mount Vernon High School Knights in Mount Vernon, N.Y.

Fazio currently resides in Danbury, Conn., with his wife Carol.

 

Jonathan Feinstein

Jonathan Feinstein took over the men's and women's track & field program in the winter of 2009. Feinstein also just completed his first fall as the head women's soccer coach at Mercy College.

Feinstein's background includes stops at the collegiate, high school and club levels. Most recently, he was named the first Director of Coaching for the Rivertowns Soccer Club in the summer of 2008. He worked with the club for six years, coaching the Rivertowns Wizards to an undefeated season in the first division of the Girls U15 and directed the program into the Eastern New York Premier League the next year. Feinstein also served as the head coach for the Westchester Select U14/U15 girls team in 2004.

Feinstein's last collegiate post was as the head men's soccer coach at the College of Mount Saint Vincent in 2007, after serving as a men's assistant at Saint Peter's College (NJ), a NCAA Division I program, for the previous two campaigns.

Prior to his position at Saint Peter's, Feinstein was an assistant coach at his alma mater Manhattanville College with the men's program from 2003-04. He also served there as the interim head coach in 2003, and helped lead the Valiants to a pair of Skyline Conference Tournament appearances during his tenure.

Feinstein has also previously coached the girls varsity program at nearby Hastings-on-Hudson High School. He holds a United States Soccer Federation "B" Coaching License.

Feinstein is a 2003 graduate of Manhattanville with a Bachelor of Arts in history. He went on to receive his master's degree in liberal arts from Manhattanville in 2004. Feinstein was a standout for the Valiants from 1999-2002, earning a pair of All-Conference honors.
